What an amazing experience to climb up to the top of Prekestolen cliff face. It takes about 2 hours to get to the top (1.5 hours if you are walking at a good pace). Some do it at the crack of dawn to see an amazing sunrise and others the sunset. Either way it has spectacular views. Just time it right so it is a clear day, if not you may not see anything from the top of Prekestolen.
You can also take a ferry along the Lysefjord and see it
from the bottom. Also some great views, but the walk to
the top is the ideal choice.
From Kristiansand, it is about a 3.5 hour drive. You
take the E39 From Kristiansand in the direction of
Stavanger and then turn of at the '13' road from 'fiske'
in 'Ålgård'. There is a map below or you can contact the
Preikestolen Hostel or Preikestolen Camping at the
details below for more precise directions.
So very easy to do a day and over night trip there from
Kristiansand.
