Hi,
The best chance you have of getting a place at a good
price is to use Norways biggest Real Estate website
called FINN. This is a link to their holiday homes to
rent.
http://www.finn.no/finn/realestate/leisure/rent/browse1
Type in Hovden in the search field to get the results.
It is in Norwegian, but you can use Google translate to
get the text in your language.
Or, there is the Hovden tourism website - www.hovden.com
Good luck.

Do you know any free and good places? We expect the

Hei Adam.
Jeg søkte på "visit kristiansand" på google for å se om

Jeg har vært inne på tanken å gi en slik tur til
kjæresten min, og lurer derfor på hva prisen ligger på
og hvor lang flytiden er?

Hi Owen, Your safest bet is to contact UDI (Norwegian
Immigration Department) before you arrive in
Kristiansand. www.udi.no/templates/Tema.aspx?id=7403
If you arrive in Kristiansand before you contact the
Immigration Department, you can visit the Kristiansand
Police Station where there is an immigration office.
Good luck. Adam

Hi Richard,
There is not so much work in Kristiansand during the
winter months. Summer is by far the easiest time to get
some work. You could try some bar work or if you are a
tradesman, you could try one of the agencies on the
Kristiansand Jobs page. There is also a NAV office in
Kristiansand (Government Job Office) where they post
jobs on their boards there. They can also help you if
you go in and chat to them. Good luck. Adam

Hi Claire,
There are many places you can visit outside of
Kristiansand for the day. Arendal is a nice city by the
water but I guess it all depends on what you are
interested in. Evje is a nice little place with a museum
and a lovely park next to the river. There is a tourist
office in the centre of Kristiansand that has maps and
information that can help (in English). Their details
are on this website. Enjoy your trip!

friendly people and wonderful nature. There were some
attractions that we did now now about, so your website
has helped us. We have even sent the link to friends
that are considering coming over to Kristiansand and
perhaps Oslo.

If you want a snack in Kristiansand, there is a little
store near the beach in the city, I think the area is
called Bystranda. They make hot food and we had the
Swedish meatballs. It was really nice. There is no
sitting area inside but there are some seats outside. We
sat by the beach and ate.

Every summer we travel to Kristiansand in our campervan.
Norway is our favourite destination as the nature and

I went to many Scandinavian cities last year but I
really liked Kristiansand. I was there in the summer and
the weather was fantastic. The locals were very nice and
always smiling. I was later told that people in

look forward to it all year! We met some locals that
even took us for a trip in their boat into the fish
market. That was a great experience.

I have to say that the roads in Kristiansand are not the
easiest! I have been here for 6 months and am still
trying to get used to the tunnels into the city. Never
remember which exit to take!!! And as for the round
abouts, that is a hazard in itself.
But, the Norwegian drivers are ok and no where near as
bad as they are back in the US.
Anyway enough of that. I would totally recommend people
visit Kristiansand, especially in the winter. The
colours are just beautiful.
Try and avoid the city during the Quart festival though
as it is so over crowded!

Dear Sir / Madam
I found your website on Kristiansand very interesting. I
will be in southern Norway in January and intend to
extend my stay. I was considering whether to visit
Kristiansand. I would appreciate all tips and advice
regarding the matter.
1) What is available to do in winter? Which markets are
open?
2) What are the standard opening hours for museums and
shops in January? Are the major
sites/attractions/shopping areas open?
3) Is there anything to do after dark? I understand the
sun sets by 4pm.
4) I hear there is an ice skating rink in the city. Are
skates and clothing equipment available for rental? Any
advice on the costs?
5) Will waterproof shoes and clothes be recommended?
What is the average temperature, rain, and wind patterns
in mid January?
6) Any special winter highlights in Kristiansand?
Thank you! I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Ms LIM
